April 2017

---

Greetings Liberty Rugby Family,

As I am sure you are all aware, we are coming up on our Annual Spaghetti Feed and Auction Night in just a few short weeks.  This is my favorite event of the season, as everyone from from players, parents, and club supporters are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

We are currently accepting donations to include as auction items.  We will have both a live and silent auction, which allows room for any and all donations.  From gift baskets or gift cards, to services, trips and experiences.  Anything and everything helps.

If you, or someone you know has something you wish to donate, contact Kirk Delaurenti at 206-795-0145 or kirk@kirkdelaurentiphotography.com.

You can also help by pre selling tickets to the event.  There are physical tickets available from Kirk, or go to www.LibertyRugby.org to purchase online.

Let's fill up the Hall, and raise some funds for Liberty Rugby!

www.ruggerpalooza.org

Saturday June 10th

Moshier Park
430 S 156th Street
Burien, WA 98166

Time 10:00am kickoff for first matches

This has been approved as a sanctioned USA Rugby event. We've also registered as an official "Olympic Day 2017" event.

I have confirmations from current and former Eagles who plan on attending and interacting with the kids. Media coverage is a possibility.

We will have other games and rugby skill related fun activities set up for the players and the general public.

We are setting up games for age grades 1-4 coed, 5-6 coed, 7th-8th, HS Girls, JV and Varsity pending clubs' availability. Format will be sevens for the older kids. Minis format TBD depending on level of participation. (7's, 10's or 12's)
We plan to have a 15's exhibition featuring the WA Loggers rep side team vs TBD opponent.

We are promoting this within both the rugby community and the community at large, the idea is to raise awareness of our sport at the youth level and attract interest for new players, parents, and coaches. I'm in contact with teams from WA, Oregon, and British Columbia, we hope to make this a Northwest "International" event.

We are planning to allow space for clubs to promote themselves by setting up information booths.
We would love to have your team there. There is no entry fee as we are trying to grow this event and promote the game.

Feel Free to contact me with any questions

Thanks

A Word From the Coaches...

Our season is well under way, and off to a great start.  While the weather hasn’t always cooperated, our numbers out for training sessions has increased, new players are learning and clearly falling in love with the game, and our squads at all levels are really coming together to be the forces Liberty Rugby is known for.

We do need to have all players showing up to practice on time, and fully prepared to train.

Appropriate attire includes rugby shorts and mouthguards.  We cannot hold fully effective training sessions without these crucial elements, and far too many players are showing up without.

A quick reminder, Liberty Rugby Club has a dentist that has offered all players custom fitted mouthguards for FREEHe is a great dentist and this is a great offer, and I encourage all to take advantage.

      Reaching Out!

As you all are aware, the club recently purchased a team bus.  She was a tremendous success during our maiden outing, with a trip to the Tacoma Dome along with the Trident H.S. team to watch Liberty play in the State Football Championships.  While the game ended in a loss, we all felt like winners riding around as a club, and hosting our NZ friends.  The bus is certainly going to be a great asset for our club for many seasons to come.

That being said, we are reaching out to find some assistance with a few minor repairs and a little customizing to really make the bus represent Liberty Rugby.  We are reaching out with the hopes that someone within our network of LRC has the skills or knows someone that does in the following fields.

Welding – some very minor repairs
Auto Painting – apply a proper coat of Liberty Green and Blue!

If anyone has a lead, or would like to discuss the project further, please contact Kirk at 206-795-0145, or kirk@kirkdelaurentiphotography.com.
